You can no longer hold us hostage, Ruto answers Raila
President William Ruto has come out in response to planned meetings by the Azimio coalition following a dossier released by a whistleblower revealing that the Azimio coalition’s leader, Raila Odinga, won the August 9, 2022 presidential election,
President Ruto stressed during a thanksgiving ceremony in Kirinyaga County that the nation will never again be held hostage by a small group of people who are pursuing their own selfish interests. He continued by saying that the government would bring all citizens together, regardless of how they had voted, to expose anyone who used threats frequently.
“This country will never again be a hostage to blackmai a few people chasing personal selfish interests at the expense of millions of Kenyans in our republic,”Ruto said.
‘We will unite all out citizens irrespective of all how they voted so that we can put to shame those with the habit of using threats,” he added.
The Raila Odinga-led Azimio coalition has been organizing open forums to talk about the results of the 2022 presidential election, which according to the whistleblower, Odinga won. The coalition has also pushed for a probe into alleged electoral misconduct and fraud.
However, President Ruto has dismissed these claims, stating that the election was free and fair and that the results reflect the will of the Kenyan people. He also condemned the use of blackmail and threats by the Azimio coalition, stating that such actions are not in the best interests of the country.
In addition, President Ruto said that the cartels in the tea and coffee industries were funding the Azimio meetings and that they had every right to do so but needed to stop exploiting farmers.
Gachagua was authorized by Ruto to take action against anyone attempting to sabotage the nation’s peace and progress.
“You have my full support,” Ruto said in response.
Gachagua had earlier pleaded with Ruto to put nation-building ahead of dealing with Raila Odinga during the event.
Tomorrow, Odinga is anticipated to return to the country and will head over to the Kamukunji grounds to meet with the general public.
