Ruto’s regime favors one ethnic group in state jobs, says Raila
Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga has slammed President William Ruto for alleged ethnic favoritism in recent appointments to various state jobs.
Odinga said on Sunday at a rally in Trans Nzoia that the appointments made by the Kenya Kwanza regime were biased towards one ethnic community and violated the principles of inclusivity and equality.
Odinga also asked the Kenya Kwanza regime to halt executive expansion and the creation of new offices in order to focus on the priorities of Kenyans.
“We strongly oppose emerging trends of appointments by Kenya kwanza regime that are clearly biased towards one ethnic community,” Odinga said.
“This is not the time to create offices and positions for Kenya Kwanza rejects and crooks,” he added.
Odinga has led nationwide protests calling for justice and accountability from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and Ruto’s regime. He claimed that he received 8.1 million votes in the disputed general election on August 9, 2022, but that the results were rigged in favor of Ruto by the IEBC.
“We support calls for the opening of the IEBC servers and an audit of the 2022 by an independent and reputable firm in order to bring a complete closure to the election chapter,” Odinga said.
He challenged Ruto and the IEBC to open servers if he had nothing to hide, so Kenyans could see who truly won the election. He stated that if those servers are opened today, the truth will be revealed that he triumphed.
During his speech, Odinga used a more confrontational tone, accusing Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of “speaking like a mad man” when he claimed that the country was a company that had shareholders who would be rewarded based on input. He warned Gachagua that they would be coming for him soon because it is their responsibility to clean up any dirt in Kenya.
Odinga also discussed some of the challenges that Kenyans face, such as rising prices for basic commodities like maize flour, cooking oil, sugar, and fuel.
He claimed that under Ruto’s regime, these prices have skyrocketed due to mismanagement, corruption, and incompetence. He demanded that these prices be reduced immediately in order to alleviate the burden on Kenyans.
Odinga said he will not hesitate to call for mass protests in ten days if his demands are not met.
