Ruto heartily greets CSs, open first Cabinet meeting with prayer
President William Ruto maintained the tradition of the cabinet meetings with opening prayer. The President led the prayers as he chaired his first cabinet meeting.
He met former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s cabinet today, September 27, in what was termed as a ‘normal cabinet meeting’, by a State House source.
The President looked at ease with the cabinet secretaries despite the heavy attacks he received from some of them during the campaigns. He was seen heartily greeting the CS.
Dr Ruto has made it clear that God is front and center in everything he does, and despite facing heavy criticism both during the campaigns and now, the President seems unhinged.
On Sunday, September 25, President Ruto hosted a thanksgiving service at the State House urging the pastors to pray for the presidential residence.
“Please don’t leave after lunch. Speak a word of blessing in this compound. Those who can speak in tongues speak around this compound. We will ask the senior clergy to pray over this residence,” Ruto said.
During his acceptance speech following his declaration as the presidential winner on September 15, Ruto said, “I have been prayed into victory. We were working against the odds, but I must confess it is God.”
In July, the President assured the clergy that his administration will do whatever it takes to protect religious freedom in the country.
Ruto said that there will be no church closed under his watch while undertaking to allow unhindered registration of new churches to allow Kenyans to celebrate the diversity of their faith.
“My running mate and I undertake that we will do whatever it takes to keep this country as a God-fearing nation. We commit that no church will be closed under our watch.”
First Lady Rachel Ruto on Sunday said she will be holding monthly church services at State House.
