Gachagua: The only discussion we can have with Raila is his retirement from politics
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said that the only discussion the Ruto administration can have with opposition leader Raila Odinga is his exit and retirement from politics.
Speaking during an Interdenominational church service at Ole Ntimama Stadium in Narok County, Gachagua stated that Odinga was pushing for the opportunity to meet with President Ruto in order to discuss getting accomodated into the government, but that was not likely to happen.
“This old man’s father (Oginga Odinga) unnerved Kenyatta, he (Raila) then came and approached Uhuru and put him in a ditch. There will be no handshake, so he should continue to be there (in opposition) and perform oversight,” Gachagua said.
“The only discussion we can have with him is his exit from politics,” he added.
Gachagua made this statement even as he gave other junior members of the Kenya Kwanza administration responsibility for taming Odinga.
“I appreciate Kimani Ichung’wa and Ndindi Nyoro taking the lead in dealing with the senior citizen; now, let run the government alongside the president and Musalia Mudavadi,” he added.
Since returning from South Africa, Raila Odinga has been on an opposition warpath in response to claims made by a whistleblower that the general election in August 2022 was rigged.
However, Odinga has stated that he will not be intimidated by anyone who asks his supporters to attend the rally known as “No Handshake.”
Today’s rally at Jacaranda Grounds will be his second this week; the first was on Monday in Kamukunji.
Due to alleged election fraud, Raila Odinga urged his supporters to oppose the Kwanza government of Kenya.
