Defense Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has accused opposition leader Raila Odinga of inciting his supporters to perpetrate “post election violence” under the guise of peaceful protests.
The tough talking CS asked Raila to stop the protests in the interest of businesses that are hurting.
“The government of Kenya will protect the property and life of every citizen including those in Eastleigh. And the people of Eastleigh must carry their business as usual,”he said.
Further Duale accused the Kenyatta family of fuelling the Azimio mass protests in an attempt to divert public attention from the ills and injustices committed by the previous administration in its final term.
“The last 4 years of handshake, the Kenyatta family has committed serious social-economic crimes and human rights violations against the people of Kenya.”
The defense CS went on to blame the Kenyatta administration of masterminding extrajudicial killings in North Eastern and Coast regions.
“Many Kenyans have lost their loved ones and because he know those crimes will come and haunt him, that’s why they’re looking to be in the government.” Said Duale.
Duale urged the former president Uhuru Kenyatta not to back the opposition in sparring with the government and instead retire peacefully like his predecessors.
This comes a day after protests led by Azimio leader Raila Odinga turned chaotic in Nairobi and Kisumu where civilians were injured by the police and businesses looted by by rioters.
Duale was speaking at the closing ceremony of Ramadhan Quran Competition held at Ibnu Qayim Mosque in Garissa county.
