Red Bull drifting athlete, Ahmad Daham, is in town courtesy of Red Bull to promote motorsports in the country.
The 35-year-old driver, of Jordanian Nationality, is set to meet the Kenyan motorsports community, drift car and upcoming drift drivers and share his more than twenty years of experience in the course of the week.
“We are here to spread drifting get that underground drifting screen from the street to a safe environment which is a track and hopefully we’re going to do some mentorship for the upcoming drifters. Teach them what drifting is all about and the right way to do it.”
His stay will culminate with a drivers clinic on Saturday at the Kenyatta International Conference centre which will be concluded with a drifting showcase from 2 pm to 4 pm in his car Lexus RC F which he calls “Katana”.
Daham, who is a Guinness World record holder for the longest twin drift, is quite excited to be in the country and looking forward to sharing and spreading drifting with other local drivers.
“I love to spread drifting all over the world and I consider myself as an ambassador of drifting,” said the 35-year-old.
In 2011, at 24 years old, he took on drifting, participating in Red Bull Car Park Drift and impressively winning his first three events. Three years later he won the 2014 Jordan Drift Championship and then won the Red Bull Car Park drifting championship the same and repeated the feat in 2015.
“What red bull car park drift is all about is to get these cars out of the streets onto a safe environment. Doing this on the road is the wrong thing. I can see there is a lot of talent, a lot of passion about drifting(in Kenya), and hopefully, we can grow this more and more.”
The world record holder will be hosted tonight on NTV at 10pm on NTV’s latest sports show, SportOn!, hosted by Bernard Ndong and James Wokabi
