Vincent inspires Cameroon draw.
Cameroon faced Serbia in their second fixture of the tournament. Cameroon has been placed placed alongside Brazil, Serbia and Switzerland.
At the start of the match, Serbia were on the front foot as they controlled most of the game (It’s intensity ,tempo, and when to attack). This however did not bare fruits the opponents stood firm. Senegal were only able to have the ball in short spells during the match.
In the 29th minute, Castalleto converted a corner after he was left unmarked and was able to sneak the ball into the goal post. This was a rude shock to the Serbia players. They however turned the tide and scored two quick goals in the added time First,when Pavlovic’ headed a perfect header from a free kick to make it 1-1. Then, milinkovic added another just before the whistle for half time was blown.
Coming into the second half, Afcons latest host conceded yet another goal in the 53rd minute after Serbia stringed perfect passes in their counterattack and Mitrovic finished it off by placing the ball at the back of the net. 3-1 in favour of Serbia Regortbert Song, saw this as a warning and brought on Vincent Aboubakar to try and change the game. Minutes into the game, Vincent made a perfect diagonal dash which enabled him to evade the offside trap, controlled the cross ball from the back, eyed the goalkeeper then perfectly chipped the ball into the net. Again, Aboubakar made a similar dash minutes later dribbled the ball a few yards before crossing the ball towards Chuopo- Mouting who had made a perfect parallel run. Mouting made it 3-3. Vincent the sub had changed the game!
As the game progressed, both teams created chances which they failed to capitalize on. Most notably the Serbian side when Mitrovic shot the ball above the post. This was below his standards given the standards he had set for himself in his game. The game ended in a draw. Cameroon so far have 1 point alongside Serbia at the bottom of their table.
Brasil are the next opponents for Cameroon. This is a must win if they have hopes for progressing into the round off 16. Will they overcome this obstacle and progress?
