SportPesa, Kenya 7s ink KES 126 million sponsorship deal
Betting firm SportPesa and Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) have signed a KES 126 million three-year partnership deal.
The new agreement is set to cover Kenya National Sevens men’s team Shujaa and the Kenya National Under 20s sevens men Morans.
Commenting on the partnership, KRU Chairman Oduor Gangla said, “We are pleased to be reunited with SportPesa as we seek to steer our national sevens team to even greater heights on the continental and global front, something that ties in well with SportPesa’s ambition to steer the country to greater global sporting heights.”
Also present at the partnership signing ceremony was SportPesa CEO and Kasarani Member of Parliament Capt. Ronald Karauri who said the partnership with KRU is a key step in ensuring that heroes in the rugby sport get the support they need to fly the Kenyan flag high during their numerous engagements locally and internationally.
The deal means that the SportPesa brand is back on the front of the Shujaa and Moran Shirt and will also be the official global sports gaming partner for KRU. The sponsorship has also promised to pay players bonuses for good performances in the various events that they will feature in.
