Bien spills the tea on his recent hits
Sauti Sol’s frontman Bien Aime’ Baraza recently opened up about his hit tracks and it turns out many of them aren’t as fans might think. With Sauti Sol on a break, Bien’s solo career has been skyrocketing. On a recent post on his X page, the Chikwere hit singer, mentioned that artists he worked with a while back are now dropping their collaborations to ride his solo success wave. Some even released their collabs without checking in with him first.
”Honestly some of the songs featuring me that are dropping now are tracks I did ages ago like two years back. I record a ton of stuff a while ago, and now that my solo career is taking off, these artists are releasing those songs. Some don’t even get my okay, and they just end up being hits.” says Bien. Despite some folks thinking he’s been working non stop, especially in 2024. Bien cleared the air. ”I’ve actually been chilling. I haven’t been grinding as much as it looks. All the songs you’re hearing now were recorded two years or a year and a half ago. They’re just getting released now,” he adds.
Bien, who’s the only Kenyan artist nominated for Trace Music Awards0 2025 in Zanzibar later this month, sees these releases as a win for his career. ”It’s like compound interest I’ve put in a lot of work over the years, and now I’m seeing the results. All these releases are building up to something bigger.”
In 2024, on Spotify Bien was the most streamed Kenyan artist knocking off the rap trio Wakadinali who held the itle the previous year.
