Xtian Dela’s mother begs for reunion, says she has not seen him for four years
Naomi Nyongesa, the mother of social media influencer Arthur Mandela alias Xtian Dela, has made an emotional plea for her son to return home.
Speaking in a recent interview, Nyongesa revealed that she has been unable to contact her son since 2019 and is growing increasingly concerned for his wellbeing.
“Wherever Arthur Mandela (Xtian Dela) is, I want him to know I want him back,” said Nyongesa. “He is my son and I love him. I miss him and I want him to come home.”
Nyongesa went on to reveal that she had raised Xtian Dela and his siblings alone, following the death of his father in 2007. She said that Xtian Dela is the fourth born in the family, and attended Ruiru school, Kabarak High School, and Nairobi University, where he studied Bachelor of Commerce.
Nyongesa expressed her pride in her son’s success as a social media personality, but also revealed her shock at his recent appearance.
“I was so happy when Xtian Dela took to his passion. I could see him with Jeff Koinage and I was proud things were working for him. But later, I was shocked to see him in tattoos and dreadlocks yet I brought him up in a Christian background. We used to sing gospel songs with him,” she said.
According to Nyongesa, her attempts to contact her son have been met with silence.
“Starting 2019, Xtian Dela was not reachable and when I asked him to come home, he would say he is busy,” she said. “I wrote him messages on WhatsApp but he would reply late. He later blocked me and all his siblings.”
Nyongesa said she has even enlisted the help of Fatma Banj, a content creator and Xtian Dela’s girlfriend, in an attempt to reach her son.
“I saw a lady called Fatmah Banj with him and texted her to talk to Xtian Dela and ask him to come home as there were important issues to be discussed,” said Nyongesa.
“Banj replied and said he would talk to Xtian Dela. However, she later replied and said she could not reach him. I asked for his number (from Banj) and she gave it to me but when I called, Xtian Dela was unreachable,” she added.
Nyongesa is also particularly concerned about Xtian Dela’s child, whom she says she has never met.
“I don’t know whether the grandchild is a boy or girl, I have never seen the child,” she said.
When asked about their relationship before Xtian Dela cut ties with the family, Nyongesa stated that everything was fine and that Xtian Dela had a Kikuyu girlfriend who could bring her loads of gifts.
The uncles of Xtian Dela also requested that Fatma Banj ensure that they look for the family in order to receive blessings for their union saying failure to do so, things would not be rosy.
Xtian Dela, 33, is a Kenyan YouTuber, blogger, social media personality, and radio presenter who has received numerous awards for his work in social media and blogging.
In September 2015, he joined Jeff Koinange Live on KTN Kenya as the Head of Social and Digital Media.
In 2018, he was named among the Top 100 Most Influential Young Africans on the Continent by Africa Youth Awards.
Both Xtian Dela and Fatma Banj have kept a low profile on social media since hosting his infamous Club Covid during the COVID-19 outbreak lockdown.
Xtian Dela, on the other hand, is active on social media, with a podcast, newsletter, and Twitter posts. He has recently become an advocate for mental health, which he admitted to struggling with in a tweet on February 3.
