We will deal with you, Interior CS to Azimio on planned demos
Interior Cabinet Secretary, Abraham Kithure Kindiki has cautioned the opposition against proceeding with anti-government protests scheduled for Wednesday, July 12.
“On Friday during the mass protests, six people were killed and others injured, including security officers. Freedom of association and the right to demonstrate does not include the right to cause mayhem and loot property. On Wednesday, security officers are under firm instruction to deal with those disrupting peace, destroying property, and injuring people.” Kindiki said
He spoke on Monday at Igoji, Imenti South during the installation of the new Deputy County Commissioner in Igoji.
The CS added that those planning to cause mayhem, looting, chaos, and bloodshed will be dealt with ‘decisively ‘ and that “nobody is above the law”.
Azimio coalition Party leader, Raila Amollo Odinga on Friday announced mass demonstrations will continue.
“I just arrived in the CBD in a matatu and I know what you people are going through. The high cost of fuel has led to matatu operators to increase fares and I blame it on this inept administration,” Odinga told a charged crowd in the Central Business District on Monday, July 10.
Odinga said that Kenyans will return to the streets not just in Nairobi but across the country on Wednesday to champion their rights and exercise their democratic right peacefully and in an organized manner.
