A devastating fire ravaged a residential area in Bangladesh, located within the Jomvu Constituency of Mombasa, resulting in the destruction of properties estimated to be worth millions of shillings.
The incident unfolded on a September 8, morning, at approximately 6 am, sending shockwaves through the community.
Mombasa County Chief Fire Officer, Ibrahim Basafar, provided insights into the grim situation, stating, “The fire spread to adjacent houses, destroying household items.”
However, the challenges were not confined to battling the flames; rather, the firefighters and first responders encountered difficulties in reaching the scene due to the area’s poor infrastructure.
Despite these obstacles, the community displayed remarkable unity and resilience.
Basafar commended the locals, stating, “Accessing the area was a challenge, but we applaud locals who joined efforts to put out the fire.”
There were no reported injuries, providing a glimmer of relief amid the devastating loss suffered by the residents.
