US First Lady to visit Kenya in February
Kenya is set to host the US First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden, in February, according to Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary (CS) Dr. Alfred Mutua.
The announcement was made on Citizen TV’s JKLive show yesterday January 18.
During the interview, show host Jeff Koinange asked the CS about any upcoming visits from high-profile dignitaries.
In response, Mutua stated, “Next month, we will get high-profile leaders coming to our country. The spouse of the US president will be here in this country.”
However, the purpose of the visit was not revealed.
Kenya’s democratic stance and respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms make it an attractive destination for foreign dignitaries, according to Mutua.
He added, “I was invited to the G7 as Kenya’s foreign minister with other ministers because of Kenya’s place in the world and the role we are playing in the peace process because of the democracy that we have.”
The visit by Dr. Biden is expected to be a significant event for Kenya as it continues to solidify its place on the world stage and strengthen its relationship with the United States.
