Suspect arrested in brutal murder of woman in Narok
The National Police Service says it has arrested a suspect in the brutal murder of a 45-year-old woman in Kilae Sub-Location, Moyoi Location in Narok County.
Via X on Thursday, the NPS-K said the suspect, 46-year-old Patrick Mujitwa was arrested on Thursday by police officers from Lolgorian Police Station and their Directorate of Criminal Investigations counterparts from Transmara South.
“He was initially arrested by members of the public who tied him with a rope,” the NPS-K said.
The woman’s body was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple deep cuts on the head, right hand, abdomen and right leg.
After a search of the suspect’s compound, police recovered a pair of gumboots, a slasher and a crowbar, all stained with blood.
The body was sent to Lolgorian Level IV Hospital awaiting autopsy, while the suspect is in police custody pending arraignment.
Meanwhile, the family of Rita Waeni awaits the results of a post-mortem exam done on the human head that was collected in a dam in Kiambaa on Sunday evening as the probe into the heinous murder enters week two.
The relatives who were not conclusive as to whether the head belonged to her after viewing it at the City mortuary, then went to Kiambaa police station to view the items it was recovered with to ascertain whether it was hers.

Rita’s body was discovered stabbed, decapitated and stuffed in a paper bag in an apartment along TRM Drive, Nairobi.
Three days later, her family said she had left her aunt’s residence in Syokimau to meet with a friend but instead of returning home, her father started receiving strange messages from her number demanding for a sh500,000 ransom to secure her release.
The family reported the matter to the police as more demands came in, even after she had been murdered.
Later, a post-mortem on her body revealed that her killers also clipped her nails in a possible attempt to hide evidence.
Rita’s killing follows that of socialite Starlet Wahu who was found killed in an apartment in South B.
Cases of gender-based violence are on the rise in the country with women’s rights activists now calling for a nationwide protest on Saturday at Jevanjee Garden starting 10am.
The protest that will also take place in Kisumu and Mombasa counties seeks to condemn the rising and shocking cases of women murders in the country.
