Siaya cop on the run after allegedly stabbing wife
A police officer in Rarieda, Siaya County, is on the run after he allegedly stabbed his wife with a knife on the left side of her abdomen.
According to a police incident report recorded at Aram Police Station, the officer had picked a quarrel with his wife identified as Lavin Atieno, 25 and stabbed her repeatedly.
It took the intervention of other officers who broke into the house and found Ms Atieno bleeding with visible stab wounds.
“The wife was rescued by other officers who had responded to a distress call and took her to Lwak Mission Hospital where she has been admitted in stable condition,” stated the report.
Police officers have been deployed to hunt down one of their own even as investigations to unravel the motive behind the attack commenced.
In the neighboring Bondo sub-county, police are holding a woman who is suspected to have stabbed her husband inside matrimonial house in Bondo town.
The incident was reported by a neighbor who heard commotion inside the couple’s house.
“The reportee together with other neighbors managed to convince the lady to open the door of their rented house and found the victim bleeding on the left lower arm and right shoulder and rushed him to Bondo sub-county hospital for treatment at around 0530hrs,” read part of a report.
Police officers on patrol responded by rushing to the scene at St. Peters area within Bondo town and managed to arrest the suspect.
The police recovered a knife which had blood stains and a metal rod which are suspected to have been used in assaulting the victim.
“Police officers later visited the victim at Bondo sub-county hospital and established that the altercation was as a result of domestic issues between the two and that the victim had sustained a deep cut on the lower left arm that had penetrated to the other side of the arm and another deep cut on the right shoulder,” the report further stated.
