Rigathi, Ruto step back to allow Meru leaders to resolve internal wrangles
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said that President Ruto and he have decided to sit aside and give room for Meru leaders to sort their issues alone. Rigathi has urged the church leaders, elders and political leaders to sit and decide what is good for the Meru community for unity and development purposes.
He requested them even as they make decisions, to keep in mind that Meru County is important to the Kenya Kwanza Government saying residents need to see developments to avoid annoying President Ruto’s administration.
“I have looked for peace in Kericho and was successful, I also resolved rows between Kiambu leaders and it’s now settled, I beg you please look for peace and unity in my mother county,” said DP Gachagua.
He added that they are doing anything possible to bring all leaders in the region together urging them to put unity before anything else and avoid selfish engagement that will not favour the region.
Chairman of Meru parliamentary cocus Mugambi Rindikiri, said the Meru community needs development and not wars of politics, urging Rigathi to invite all leaders from Meru and plan for developments when this dust is over.
The Meru senator Kathuri Murungi pointed out that the county has many learned and experienced leaders, adding that they are capable of solving their issues though will require little guidance.
The row between Meru Governor Kawaira Mwangaza and her deputy governor Isaac Mutuma has been going on for the last 9 months now. So far 61 MCAs from the county Assembly of Meru have signed the second impeachment motion against the governor.
They were speaking during a fundraising at the Methodist Church of Kenya MCK Kaelo in Igembe North.
