Raila lets the cat out of the bag: I hired ethical hackers to hack IEBC
Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition leader Raila Odinga has claimed that he worked with ethical hackers to uncover the details of his alleged stolen victory in the August 2022 polls.
According to Raila, he had to enlist the technical assistance of foreign hacking experts to unearth facts about the presidential tallies by the IEBC, who he claims announced different figures than the ones that had been captured in the servers.
While speaking to Ramogi TV on Monday, Raila stated that the state tried to stop the work of his hackers when they arrived in the country with their sophisticated machines, as they were trailed for over a month.
“We got them from abroad and they came with their machines. They had to go as far as Athi River, some in Kajiado and even Kiambu because they were being tracked for about a month,” he said.
The Presidential election results announced by IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati and validated by the Supreme Court showed that President William Ruto beat Raila with 7.2 million votes against 6.9 million votes. However, Raila claims that this was not the true outcome of the election.
“We won the last election with a margin of 2.2 million. Ruto got 5.9 million while Azimio got 8.1 million. It was evident that Ruto did not win clean from the last general elections,” said Raila.
He went on to add that the IT gurus were tasked with investigating the alleged manipulation of the results of the 2022 polls. He further stated that after receiving the full report on what transpired, he decided to keep the report secret because he did not want to speak on the matter by himself.
On the pact with President Uhuru Kenyatta, Odinga revealed that they both agitated for a free and fair election. In the agreement, none of them was to be involved in rigging the polls, and other officials were tasked with ensuring that their competitors did not manipulate the polls.
“When I was with him, we agreed that the election would not be interfered with in any way because we knew we would win. There were no plans to rig, which is the MOU we signed with Uhuru. He knows what happened, and people may ask why he did not help, yet he was the President. What happened is that there were people who were supposed to do something, and they did not,” he stated.
Raila has maintained he won the August 2022 polls and has called for an audit of the elections.
