No extension on retirement age, Aisha Jumwa announces
The Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Affirmative Action and Gender Aisha Jumwa has put to a stop the extension of service of Public Officers beyond the mandatory retirement age.
The CS noted that public officers who have attained the mandatory age for retirement as provided under the Public Service Commission Act are making numerous appeals to the commission for unjustified extension.
Chinese traders in Kenya call for dialogue and cooperation
The Kenya China Chamber of Commerce (KCCC) has on Sunday called for a healthy environment to do business and trade in peace with Kenyan traders.
The group issued a statement after the Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry, Moses Kuria, advised the Vice Chancellor of Kenyatta University to buy out the lease for China Square, a shopping mall in Nairobi that houses Chinese vendors.
The Chinese Nationals stressed that they are not in Kenya to compete with Kenyan traders, but rather to develop their economies and contribute to Kenya’s growth and development by creating jobs and paying taxes.
Missing drug consignment belonging to public health facilities found
Consignment of drugs worth millions of shillings belonging to the various public facilities in Nyandarua county that went missing have been recovered in a private home in Engineer town, Kinangop sub-county.
While condemning the incident, Nyandarua governor Moses Ndirangu Badilisha said theft of drugs from health facilities compromises the county’s service delivery.
Aussies loose to Kenya but reach LA Sevens quarters
Reigning World Rugby Sevens Series champions Australia suffered an upset defeat to Kenya before squeezing into the quarter-finals of the weather-disrupted Los Angeles Sevens on Saturday.
Australia slumped to a 12-7 opening loss against the Kenyans before recovering to book their place in the last eight with a victory over Japan (24-10) and a narrow 15-12 loss to Fiji in their final Pool C game
That was enough to see the Australians edge past Kenya on points difference.
