Big names in race for Chief Administrative Secretary
President William Ruto’s Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi, former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malalah and former nominated Senator Millicent Omanga have made a shortlist of 224 candidates selected to fill the position of Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS).
Cate Waruguru, Charles Njagua Kanyi (Jaguar), ex-journalist Mwanaisha Chidzuga, MacDonald Mariga, Wilson Sossion, Caleb Kositany and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru are also among those on the list.
Others include former MPs John Muchiri and Isaac Mwaura and former governors; Evans Kidero, Patrick Khaemba, James Ongwae and John Mruttu. Former Kirinyaga Women Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici also made the list.
CITAM’s bishop Oginde among 14 shortlisted for EACC chairperson
CITAM church Bishop David Adang Oginde, former IEBC commissioner Thomas Letangule, and renowned lawyer Charles Kanjama are among those who have made the EACC chairperson shortlist.
The other candidates are Benjamin Adam Mure Mweri, Abdihafd Abdullahi Yarow, Amani Yuda Komora, Kaberia Isaac Kubai and Eliud Wanjao Ngige.
Others are Kivutha Kibwana, Susan Nekesa Ngera, Josiah B Onyancha, Norah Chepkemoi Mutai, Kenneth Sakwa Buliba, and Justa Wawira Mwangi.
Suspect arrested over NHIF staff Nairobi CBD killing
A suspect, Julius Kimani Mwangi, has been arrested over the death of NHIF staff Lilian Waithera. 46-year-old Lilian was shot and killed in Nairobi’s Central Business District on her way home from the NHIF Upperhill offices.
According to detectives working the case, they were able to narrow down on the building the shooter was at through the bullet trajectory from the autopsy report.
A colleague who was with Lilian at the time of the incident said she complained of chest pains before collapsing and was declared dead by emergency ambulance paramedics.
New quake hits Turkey and Syria, killing three
A 6.4-magnitude earthquake on Monday rocked Turkey’s southern province of Hatay and northern Syria, killing three people and sparking fresh panic after a February 6 tremor that left nearly 45,000 dead in both countries.
Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said three people were killed and 213 were taken to hospital, while in Syria White Helmets said more than 130 people were injured and that some already damaged buildings had collapsed.
