Samburu disarmament progress
About ten illegal guns have been surrendered to security agencies in the county of Samburu in the wake of the ongoing security operation. Locals surrendered five firearms to security chiefs in a public baraza in Samburu east sub county.
Samburu east deputy county commissioner Pius Murugu said that the authorities recovered four AK47 firearms with 16 rounds of ammunition and one cabine rifle with two rounds of ammunition. In the same vein herders in Baragoi also surrendered an AK47 riffle ahead of the planned mop up exercise. President William Ruto on Monday issued a three-day amnesty period to allow illegal gun holders to surrender them before forceful disarmament.
MP faults Uhuru for engaging in politics
Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku has faulted the former President Uhuru Kenyatta for engaging in politics after retirement. Speaking in Mbeere North, Embu County, during the launch of a borehole, Ruku noted that the statements by the former head of state undermined President William Ruto.
He added that the former President was free to join former Prime minister Raila Odinga but his sentiments actions and must show respect to the current president.
The MP said that the Kenya Kwanza legislators will not sit down and watch as a section of leaders undermine the government adding that they will defend the government at all costs.
Three killed in Isiolo following an armed raid on villages
Three people have been killed in an armed raid on villages in Mlango area, Burat ward in Isiolo county. Police have confirmed the deaths while also stating that the raiders came from the neighbouring Samburu, one of the six counties under government surveillance in the ongoing campaign Komesha Uhalifu North Rift.
There have been reports of clashes between herders in the neighbourhood, whose scramble for diminishing resources have become intense in the wake of a drought that has affected much of the country’s north region for at least 5 seasons.
Rashford shines as Man Utd rout Leicester amid takeover race
Marcus Rashford showed Manchester United won’t be distracted by the race to buy the Old Trafford club as his double inspired a 3-0 win against Leicester on Sunday.
United owners the Glazer family are considering rival offers from Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, chairman of one of Qatar’s biggest banks, and British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe.
Further bids could still be made amid reports United may be under new ownership within six weeks — but Erik ten Hag’s side have kept their focus firmly on the pitch.
Rashford has been the key to United’s impressive form in Ten Hag’s first season and the England forward proved too hot for Leicester to handle at Old Trafford.
