Mudavadi, Wahome, Muturi, Duale and Mutua face MPs for vetting

Musalia Mudavadi (Prime Cabinet Secretary), Alice Wahome (Water, Sanitation and Irrigation), Justin Muturi (Attorney General), Aden Duale (Defence), and Alfred Mutua (Foreign and Diaspora affairs) will appear before the Committee on Appointments today, following their nomination by President William Ruto to serve in his government.

The committee is composed of the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula (Chairperson), Nelson Koech (Belgut), Rahab Mukami (Nyeri), Dido Ali Raso (Saku), George Murugara (Tharaka), David Gikaria (Nakuru East), Ferdinand Wanyonyi (Kwanza), Mary Emaase (Teso South), Abdul Rahim Dawood (North Imenti), Junet Mohamed (Suna East), Caleb Amisi (Saboti), Stephen Mule (Matungulu), Abdi Shurie (Balambala), Naisula Lesuuda (Samburu West), David Pkosing (Pokot South) and Mishi Mboko (Likoni).

On Monday at 9 a.m., Musalia Mudavadi will be the first to be vetted. Muturi will be vetted at 10.30 a.m., followed by Duale at 11:30 a.m. Mutua and Wahome will wrap up the day at 2:30 and 3:30 p.m., respectively.

Ruto lays blame on Uhuru and Raila for the country’s economic woes

President William Ruto accused his predecessor, Uhuru Kenyatta, of presiding over an economic and security mess that would take time to fix, as he unveiled plans to complete dams and other projects that had been halted due to political reasons.

Ruto claimed President Kenyatta and his preferred successor Raila Odinga had messed up the economic and security sector for the second day in a row, first in Kirinyaga on Saturday and again yesterday in Kericho. He claimed the two leaders had no right to criticize him while he worked to correct the faults.

Ruto says he dissolved the DCI’s Special Service Unit due to extrajudicial deaths

According to the Daily Nation, a report delivered to President Ruto on Thursday by new DCI boss Amin Mohamed recommended the disbandment of DCI’s Special Service Unit.

Ruto stated that this is one of the reforms he is looking to implement as his administration tries to address the country’s security concerns. He said that the crack unit was utilized to carry out killings throughout the country.

Suspect in murder of Ida Odinga’s bodyguard Barrack Oduor, arrested

Collins Okundi, the suspect in the fatal shooting of Ida Odinga’s bodyguard in Kisumu, has been apprehended in Eldoret.

According to a report filed by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Eldoret West Sub County, the suspect was apprehended with a Jericho pistol, one magazine, and seven rounds of ammunition.

Egerton lecturers to down tools over pay

At least 700 members of the Kenya Universities Staff Union (KUSU) Egerton University branch will go on strike today after the university failed to pay millions of shillings in salary arrears.

According to KUSU Organising Secretary Ernest Oyaya, union members are living in squalor and their social life have been impacted due to non-payment of their salary.

Salah finished off Alisson Becker’s precise pass in the 76th minute, capping off a tense and entertaining match between the division’s preeminent forces in recent seasons.

It came after a VAR review rejected a goal for Phil Foden and before Jürgen Klopp was sent off as the emotions neared boiling point.

Manchester City’s loss saw Arsenal go four points clear in the Premier League table.

Real Madrid ease to El Clasico win over Barcelona

Real Madrid easily trounced Barcelona 3-1 in the season’s first Clasico.

The victory on Sunday also returns Real to the top of the La Liga standings. They now have a three-point lead over Barcelona.

Karim Benzema and Fede Valverde put Real Madrid up 2-0 in the first half, and Carlo Ancelotti’s men cruised the rest of the way.

A late Ferran Torres goal gave Barcelona hope of an unexpected comeback, but Madrid went to the other end of the field and gained a penalty in extra time, which Rodyrgo converted.
