Police search for man accused of defiling and impregnating two sisters
A highly respected man, who is vice chair of Ng’arua Primary school board, a committee chair of Full Gospel Church, and mzee wa Nyumba Kumi has allegedly defiled two minors of the same family, impregnating both of them.
One of the minors, 13-years-old and a standard seven pupil at Ng’arua Primary School, has already given birth, while her younger sister who is 11-years-old is six months pregnant.
Jefferson Lesoite is said to have taken advantage of the two girls who assisted their parents who are employed at his farm over the weekends.
While spilling the beans over her pregnancy, the 11-year-old accused Lesoite of defiling them at the maize plantations an act that has resulted in an uproar from the community.
Residents claim efforts to seek justice against Lesoite have failed after local administration quashed their attempts to apprehend him, instead urging them to settle the matter through community elders.
The angry residents were undeterred by the threats from Lesoite’s family, and proceeding to report the matter at Marigat Police Station. A medical report and ultrasound seen by NTV showed unsettling evidence of defilement of the 11-year-old.
Jefferson Lesoite is said to have fled the area. Police are searching for him.
The women elders and Nyumba Kumi leaders are calling upon women activists, and child protection units across Kenya to intervene and help protect children in the area.
Baringo South has seen increased cases of children dropping out of school due to pregnancy with victims resolving the matter through engagements with community elders.
During the Covid-19 pandemic over 700 young girls dropped out of school due to teen pregnancy.
