Over 290 youth graduate from Meru Youth Service (MYS) Training Centre
More than 290 youth have graduated from Meru Youth Service (MYS) at Igoji training centre in Imenti South Constituency Meru County.
The pass-out parade of the inaugural cohort of Meru Youth Service (MYS) trainees to graduate, after an intensive 3-week training program at the Centre. The pass-out ceremony was held at the Training Camp and was officiated by Governor Kawira Mwangaza alongside other county officials
According to Meru Deputy Governor Isaac Mutuma M’Ethingia, the training will reduce criminality in the society as they will not engage themselves in drugs and other related activities due to lack of employment as many will be self-employed.
He added that this is a push to the young people so that they can have a platform to know themselves and remove self-esteem as they go out to enrol in different vocational colleges.
Governor Kawira pointed out no graduate will go back to the street to beg, or get into drug addiction saying her administration will follow them to see their life succeed. She urged them not to limit themselves, focus and never look back from where they come from and make their dreams come true. She added that in a few coming weeks, they will launch another recruitment urging those who will be willing to join to be alert.
After undergoing weeks of training, the recruits pass out ready to join the world and showcase their skills and information learnt in various jobs. The 291 graduates will be joining Meru National Polytechnic on the 29th of this month to undertake professional courses (190 professional guards, 67 dairy farm managers and 34 house managers) that are tailor-made to impart them with marketable, competitive skills.
