NTV correspondent Jesse Chenge receives iChange Nations award for exemplary work

NTV’s Western region correspondent, Jesse Chenge, was among Kenyans feted by iChange Nations Global Organization for his exemplary service to the society through highlighting the plight of the voiceless in villages.

The award ceremony, which was held in Nairobi on Thursday, saw Chenge bag Regional Voice On Science, Health & Environmental Reporting Award for using his voice to speak to others in a way that creates impact and positive change within the communities in the world on environment, Science and Health.

ICN Special Envoy to Kenya, Dr. Ruben West, and ICN World Civility Ambassador (Kenya based), Amb. Dominic Obadiah, graced the occasion.

Other Kenyans awarded include National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Bungoma Police Commander Francis Kooli, Senate Speaker Amason Jeffah Kingi, Masinde Muliro University VC Prof. Solomon Shibairo as well as several professors and lawyers across the country for a sterling job to humanity.

iChange Nations Civility award has been given to several Head of States and Special Envoys to foster peace Globally.

In 2021, Jesse’s outstanding contribution to health reporting earned him a certificate of recognition in the notable category of the Family Planning Awards by Johns Hopkins Program for International Education in Gynecology and Obstetrics, (jpiego). This award was in recognition of his excellent work in raising awareness of family planning issues and the importance of sexual and reproductive health rights.

In 2022, Jesse was recognised again, this time in the industry and innovation category of the Family Planning Awards by Johns Hopkins Program for International Education in Gynecology and Obstetrics,(jpiego). This award was given to Jesse for his outstanding work in highlighting the role of technology in promoting access to contraception and family planning services.

Jesse’s work on health issues extends beyond the Family Planning Awards. He was also recognised by Amref Health Africa on 13th December 2022  for his report on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). The report highlighted the plight of over six million people in the Western region of Kenya who are at risk of contracting intestinal worms, bilharzia, and other NTDs.
