“Nothing but sarcasm”: Khalwale dismisses Kuria’s apology
Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has rejected Trade Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria’s ‘apology’ for his scathing remarks on the rising cost of fuel, saying it was insincere.
Kuria’s comments drew criticism from Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua and Khalwale, who clapped back at Kuria, with DP saying leaders should maintain decorum when speaking to Kenyans.
Moses Kuria took to his account on Wednesday to publicly apologize to “Dr. Boni Khalwale and his master” for his posts on the fuel economy in which he speculated that prices would only go up before they got better.
In a tweet laced with a tone of sarcasm, Kuria wrote, “Dear Kenyans. On Friday, September 15th, I made some comments indicating that the price of fuel is likely to go up in the coming months owing to global dynamics. I have since been advised by people like Dr. Boni Khalwale and his master that the statement was incorrect, insensitive, and inaccurate. I am now made to understand that the price will come down. I apologize profusely since to err is human.”
In an interview with Citizen TV on Thursday, Khalwale responded to Kuria’s apology saying that Kuria’s apology was not genuine and that it was filled with sarcasm.
“Every tone of that particular tweet is nothing but sarcasm. There was no apology there. I don’t know who he was apologizing to; if it includes me, then until I read an apology from him, I will make a decision whether to accept it or not.”
