Natembeya hosts NOREB summit to discuss ways to ensure economic growth in the region, retain peace
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya is hosting all leaders from the North Rift to the North Rift Economic Bloc (NOREB) where they will be discussing ways to ensure they retain peace and economic growth in the region.
The North Rift Economic Bloc which was founded in 2015 to foster peace in the region, comprises of eight member counties in the North Rift region including Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, West Pokot, Turkana, Elgeyo Marakwet and Samburu.
Governor George Natembeya launched the beautification of Kitale town in preparation for the summit to wow investors.
“We will plant ornamental trees everywhere, we shall also construct pavements so that citizens can use them instead of them crowding with the buses and motorcycles on the main road, we shall also ensure our markets are presentable and houses are painted,” Natembeya said.
West Pokot’s Governor Simon Kachapin arrived in Kitale Grounds earlier today for the two-day summit, starting today with the hopes that the region will also forge more alliances to ensure economic and agricultural development in the region.
“Our meetings here with union leaders and political leaders will help us know the way forward for the region,” Kachapin said.
“The counties have been in pursuit of peace, and we want to retain it,” Natembeya added.
The event which will be held at Kitale Club grounds is expected to be attended by over 5,000 delegates from the NOREB bloc.
