The Datareportal has shared its findings on the state of data, insights, and trends on how Kenyans use data services in 2023.
The report shows 10.15 million users aged 18 and above using social media in Kenya at the start of 2023, which was equivalent to 33.6 percent of the total population aged 18 and above at that time.
The number of social media users has gone down since January 2022, there were 11.75 million social media users in the country.
Interestingly, the report showed 44.3 percent of Kenya’s social media users were female, while 55.7 percent were male.
According to the report, Youtube has the highest number of users at 9.44 million, Facebook at 9.25 million, Instagram at 2.20 million, LinkedIn at 3.50 million “members”, Snapchat had 2.45 million and Twitter at 1.9 million as shown below.
Despite Facebook having a high number of users at 9.25 million, Meta’s advertising resources indicate that ads on Facebook Messenger reached 1.85 million users only.
Snapchat with a total of 2.45 million users has an ad audience that is 67.9 percent female and 30.6 percent male; the only social media platform featured in the report with more female users than males.
