Mombasa governor nominates county executive committee members
Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir has nominated members to the county cabinet. The governor has nominated 10 county executive committee members (CEC).
Francis Foleni Thoya has been nominated to the department of environment and solid waste management. The department is responsible for removal, transportation and disposal of solid waste, a known menace in the county in the past.
Dr. Mbwarali Kame has been nominated to the department of education and digital transformation. The department will manage formulation and implementation of policy on early childhood education and technical and vocational training.
The finance and economic planning department; one responsible for developing and managing the microeconomic policies of the county will be led by Evans Oanda.
The county’s department of health will be run by Dr. Swabah Ahmed in the recent county nominations. The department will be responsible for policies aimed at the provision of high quality and affordable health care for the people of Mombasa.
Daniel Otieno and Mohamed Hussein Mohamed have been nominated to the departments of Transport and Infrastructure and Lands, urban renewal and housing respectively.
Emily Achieng Okellohas been tasked with the responsibility of ensuring Mombasa residents have good access to clean, safe and reliable water supply in the department of Water, Natural Resources and Climate Change Resilience.
Kenneth Muigai has been nominated to the county’s cabinet in the department of Administration, Youth, Gender, Social Services and Sports.
The department of Blue Economy, Agriculture and Livestock, though Mombasa county is not primarily arable, Kibibi Abdalla Khamis has been nominated to head it.
Mohamed Osman has been nominated to head the department of Tourism, Culture and Trade.
According to the governor, the nominations were done after a panel review after applicants were given a month to send in their applications.
In the executive order, the governor also nominates other county staff such as advisors, county attorney and board members.
