Miguna officially announces comeback date for next month
Renowned lawyer Miguna Miguna has on Friday announced that he will jet back into the country on October 20, 2022. Miguna said he will land at JKIA on the said date at 6 a.m.
Miguna was compelled to reschedule his return date due to social media users’ demands. Miguna had on Thursday stated that he will be traveling from Toronto on October 24, 2022 and arriving at JKIA, Nairobi on October 25, 2022 at 8:20 PM. Several social media users expressed concern that his arrival time would prevent them from meeting him, necessitating the adjustment.
“Wow, fellow Kenyans. I’ll see if I can change my arrival time to morning. I didn’t realize it was going to be such a huge issue. But because hundreds of you have made it an issue, I’ll try and accommodate you. Except that you won’t pay for the change of my flight details,” Miguna tweeted before announcing the new date.
Miguna recently disclosed that he had gotten a new passport, five years after being ‘deported’ from Kenya to Canada. Miguna revealed in a tweet that President William Ruto had his new passport delivered after his old one was destroyed.
The lawyer, who also has Canadian citizenship, stated that he did not have to sign any documents in order to have his new passport reissued as directed by the state through Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i during Uhuru Kenyatta’s tenure.
Miguna further ordered Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, PS Karanja Kibicho, and PS Gordon O. Kihalangwa to contact his lawyer, Adrian Kamotho Njenga, and settle the damages and expenses awarded to him by the High Court and Court of Appeal in several cases he won since 2018.
Kenya deported Miguna in 2018 after he was arrested and accused of treason for a role he played in the unofficial inauguration of opposition leader Raila Odinga as “the people’s president.”
Miguna was deported to Canada and has been there ever since.
