Maxine Wahome case: Neighbour says Asad was violent towards girlfriends
The murder trial against junior Rally driver Maxine Wahome began on Tuesday, with a neighbor taking the stand as the first witness. Chemutai Kipkorir testified that Maxine and the deceased, who was her late lover, used to frequently engage in physical fights.
She recounted that on December 12, 2023, she was in her house when she heard the commotion coming from Asad’s house. Although she did not venture outside to try and intervene or separate the two, Chemutai informed the court that she heard a woman crying amid the tumult. Subsequently, she called both 911 and the Kileleshwa association chairman.
Maxine is facing charges related to the murder of Asad, who tragically passed away on December 19, 2023, as a result of severe injuries sustained at his home on December 12.
“When he was yelling, I heard…”Get out of my house,” then I heard the lady crying… I went to my living room and used my house intercom to call the guard. Thereafter, the commotion stopped for about five minutes, and then the commotion started again. I heard sounds of a struggle; that’s what I could hear,” testified Chemutai Korir.
“I heard glasses falling from my dining room window… I tried to call 911 and Kileleshwa because it was terrifying and sought police intervention. She heard someone groaning afterward. I heard someone saying Kalulu… Kalulu (referring to Asad), what has happened… I went to my balcony window, and I could see neighbors and the chairman. They brought him down and took him outside as one of the neighbors brought a car. I was seeing all this from my balcony. I could see he was covered with blood and could see they were pressing one of the legs. I knew he had a violent temper. Before Maxine… the ex-girlfriend was also subjected to violence. There would be an argument, but those ladies would leave,” Chemutai Korir stated.
