Larry Madowo to host African Voices Changemakers on CNN International
CNN International Correspondent Larry Madowo is set to be the new host of the popular series African Voices Changemakers as he marks another coup for the Kenyan journalist.
Madowo, who is based in Nairobi, has covered a wide range of stories for the network since joining in 2021, including reporting on vaccine inequality, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Kenyan elections, and most recently, the World Economic Forum in Davos.
African Voices has been airing on CNN International for over a decade and features individuals from across Africa who are making a difference in their communities and contributing to their cultures.
The show highlights entertainers, creatives, athletes, and everyday people who are making a positive impact on the continent. Madowo himself was featured on the show in 2017.
Commenting on his appointment, Madowo said, “I’m looking forward to highlighting outstanding stories and incredible people from across the continent and showing the world these remarkable African changemakers. Having featured on the show before joining CNN, this is a full circle moment for me.”
CNN International SVP and Global Head of Features Content, Ellana Lee, said, “Larry is a uniquely experienced journalist with enormous energy, expertise, and skill. He is also incredibly passionate about Africa, and I know he is excited by the chance to bring its many varied experiences and stories to a global audience via one of CNN’s longest-running and most successful programs.”
African Voices Changemakers will continue to air weekly on CNN International, seeking out leading trendsetters and trailblazers across Africa.
