Lack of fees for secondary school forces two brothers into making bricks
Two brothers who scored over 300 marks in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams are now working as manual labourers after they failed to join secondary school due to a lack of school fees.
Caleb Namasaka, 17, and Dan Namasaka, 15, got 305 and 360 marks respectively, qualifying to be called to Bungoma High School and Chesamisi High School respectively in Bungoma county.
The two brothers are now making and selling bricks to support the family.
According to their mother Jentrix Khisa Namasaka, she is the sole breadwinner of the family since her husband became disabled following an accident.
The mother of six says she does manual work sometimes as a maid to put food on the table.
Caleb and Dan would like to join high school and later be engineers, but they say if they don’t get a sponsor then brick-making will be the solution to their family’s problems.
They are asking for well-wishers to help them to join high school saying they go through education, they will be able to support themselves and raise their family.
