The 2022 deputy presidential debate will take place on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the Catholic University for Eastern Africa in Karen, Nairobi from 5pm to 10pm, the organizers announced on Wednesday. As happened with the Governors debate held on Monday, the debate will be in two tiers with the first being between the candidates whose ticket has scored less than 5 per cent in the last three opinion polls.
This means that Justina Wamae, the running mate to Roots Presidential candidate George Wajackoyah will face off with Ruth Mutua who is deputising Agano Party of Kenya flagbearer Waihiga Mwaure in the first tier debate. This debate will be moderated by Linda Alela of TV47 and Jacob Kioria of KBC.
The second debate will involve Martha Karua and Rigathi Gachagua who are the running-mates to Raila Odinga of Azimio la Umoja and William Ruto of UDA respectively. This debate will be moderated by Sophia Wanuna of KTN News and James Smart of NTV.
Panel discussions for both debates will be moderated by Trevor Ombija of Citizen TV.
