Isaac Mwaura: From botched CAS job to Government Spokesperson

Isaac Mwaura has broken his silence after being appointed as the government spokesperson by President William Ruto.

In a statement, Mwaura expressed his gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve the nation in this capacity.

“Glory be to God! He is indeed so very faithful to those who wait upon Him. What God has kept for you, He will surely make it come to pass no matter how long! Many thanks to President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for appointing me as the government spokesman! So help me God,” he stated.

Mwaura will now take over from the former Government Spokesperson, Colonel (Retired) Cyrus Oguna, who was appointed the Government Spokesperson on May 7, 2019, replacing Eric Kiraithe.

The position was left vacant after Oguna, who had served in the position from May 2019, resigned in October 2022 to take up the position of Chief of Staff for Siaya Governor James Orengo.

The transition comes after President Ruto’s Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) appointments faced legal challenges, delaying the process.

Mwaura had previously been chosen as a CAS in the office of Musalia Mudavadi, the Prime Cabinet Secretary.

Mwanaisha Chidzuga and Gabriel Muthuma have both been appointed as Mwaura’s deputies.

Muthuma, expressing his gratitude to President Ruto, described it as an honour to serve.

“I would like to thank His Excellency William Ruto for appointing me to the position of deputy government spokesman. With humility and a grasp of zeal, I am honoured to serve,” he said.

Mwaura’s appointment follows a recent incident at the 2023 Rhema Feast where the host, Reverend Julian Kyula, invited him to address the congregation as a ‘government official’ on behalf of the state.

Mwaura stood up in his capacity as Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) to speak to the gathering.

“I am the chairman of all the CASs and the leader of our fellowship which meets every Wednesday,” he said.
