Gor Mahia ‘mitigating way forward’ after Rachier’s masonic confession

Football club Gor Mahia has asked its fans to stay calm as it ‘mitigate way forward’ following confession by the club chairman Ambrose Rachier of being a Freemasons society member.

In an exclusive interview with NTV’s Duncan Khaemba, Rachier said he is a proud member of the secret group alongside other notable people including ‘Kenya’s Chief Justices’.

In a notice titled ‘club concern’ to the club fans, Gor Mahia Secretary General Sam Ochola assured that Rachier’s affiliation to Freemasons does not include the whole club.

“The EC members, players, employees and the mighty Gor Mahia Footbal Club want to assure our fans that we are not part of the Freemasons society and our chairman’s affiliation to that society is a personal journey as attested in the media,” Ochola said.

“The EC kindly requests all fans of the club to stay calm as we mitigate the way forward,”

This comes shortly after Rarieda MP and Rachier’s law firm partner Paul Otiende distanced himself from the controversial Freemasonry movement.

Taking to Twitter after the interview aired, Otiende said, “Interesting times! Have seen an interview by my Law Firm partner Ambrose Rachier on Freemasonry! I am not and will never join Freemasonry! Let it be known that the Law Firm of Rachier & Amollo LLP is not associated with the movement!”

In the widely watched interview, the Nairobi-based lawyer, Rachier dismissed claims that freemason is a satanic group as he proceeded to to lift the lid on the enigmatic world of freemasonry and its place in Kenya’s public life.

“I was introduced to freemasonry by two friends in 1994. They talked me through it; I got interviewed, accepted, got initiated and I’ve since grown to be a senior officer,” the Gor Mahia chairman said.

“Most people in freemasonry are simple Kenyans, some of them businessmen, some are Judges of our courts; there are very few politicians.”
