Gachagua promises to expose culprits in looting spree in Uhuru’s final days
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has vowed to reveal the names of ministers and permanent secretaries who allegedly stole billions of shillings from the public coffers in the last three months of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s term.
Speaking after a church service at Jesus Winner Ministry on Sunday, Gachagua said he had evidence of how the money was siphoned and shared at the police airwing of the Wilson Airport.
“In the next few days, I will be releasing details of billions of shillings looted from the public coffers in the last three months of the Uhuru administration and announce the ministers and PSs responsible,” Gachagua said.
Gachagua claimed that Raila Odinga was initially not planning to challenge William Ruto’s victory at the Supreme Court but was persuaded by some powerful individuals to do so in order to buy time for them to loot more money.
“Raila Odinga was ready to concede defeat but he was told by some people that he should go to court so as to give the those involved room to loot. Between the time IEBC announced William Ruto as president and the day he was sworn in, they looted more than KES 24 billion,” he alleged.
On Saturday, Gachagua claimed that a large sum of money meant to aid in the fight against COVID-19 had been stolen. He claimed that two days before the elections, about KES 6 billion was stolen in pretence of selling Telkom.
He went on to say that when the petition was before the Supreme Court, another KES 10 billion was looted to allegedly pay some contractors.
