Gachagua, Karua and State Capture among top trends on Google in Kenya in 2022
Rigathi Gachagua and Martha Karua, both deputy presidenatial aspirants were the top trending local personalities in Kenya on Google in 2022.
In the Year in Search list, released by Google on Wednesday, What is State Capture? also appeared among the top trends on what Kenyans were searching for in 2022. This was most likely fueled by the Deputy Presidential debate, which was one of the most watched live TV events in the country.
Kenyans also Googled presidential aspirant George Wajackoyah, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, and Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Kenyans searched for the IEBC portal, World Cup 2022 Fixtures, AFCON, and the KNEC Portal in general topics.
Kenyans also searched for lyrics to songs like Rush, Tushangilie Kenya, Sugarcane Remix, and Girlfriend.
Kenyans were curious about GMOs after the ban was lifted and showed interested in learning about freemasonry as a result of NTV’s feature Masonic Mysteries.
Year in Search is Google’s annual look back at the moments, people, and trends that piqued collective interest. People all over the world wanted to learn more about everything from complex global issues to ways to help one another, not to mention the latest pop culture news.
“Wordle” was the most popular trending search worldwide, as guessing five-letter words became a way of life.
One of the most popular mobile requests this year on Assistant was “tell me a fun fact.”
