Four arrested over death of IEBC Returning Officer Daniel Musyoka
Detectives in Nairobi have detained four people in connection to the murder of Embakasi East IEBC returning officer Daniel Musyoka.
Their arrests follow DPP’s instruction to the Inspector General’s office to investigate the strange death of IEBC official Daniel Musyoka, who was abducted in Embakasi and later discovered dead in Loitokitok, Kajiado County, during this year’s general elections.
One of the suspects said he picked up a phone, said to be Musyoka’s on Mombasa Road on August 14, three days after the officer went missing. The suspect claims he had no idea the phone belonged to the slain IEBC employee.
The suspect then brought the phone to a repair shop in Nairobi CBD, where it was formatted and sold to a woman in Kisii County.
According to police, they tracked the phone down to the woman in Kisii Town and confiscated it. The woman told police she was sold the phone and led them to the person who handed it to her.
The woman, who was not arrested, stated that she had used the mobile device for a month.
Police have stated that they will turn her into a witness.
The four, who include mobile phone repair professionals from downtown Nairobi, are scheduled to appear in Makadara Law Courts on Wednesday, October 19.
