EACC nabs Garissa water MD over ‘forged’ academic papers
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption and Commission (EACC) says it has arrested Dolal Mohamed Mohamud, the Managing Director of Garissa Water and Sewage Company over allegations of forging his academic papers.
The anti-watchdog said, Mohamud allegedly faked his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Certificate to secure admission for a University Degree.
Confirming the arrest, the Commission’s Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi, said that the suspect scored Grade D in his KCSE but forged a fake KCSE Certificate awarding himself a Grade C+ (Plus) which he used to secure admission at the University of Nairobi.
Ngumbi said that the Commission would recover all the salaries and benefits that he had earned based on the invalid academic qualifications acquired using a fake KCSE Certificate.
The suspect was locked up at Garissa Police Station pending arraignment on Friday.

This arrest comes barely three days after the EACC chairperson, Bishop David Oginde sounded the alarm on the use of fake academic papers to gain employment.
The Commission’s boss, while speaking in Kisumu, said the issue of fake certificates is eroding gains made in the education sector.
He further warned that the law would soon catch up with those getting employed using fake certificates and that they will have to return the monthly salary, assets and resources earned for the period worked will be pursued.
“We will have to recover all the money you got through that process, even if you worked 20 years, we will want all the money you earned during that time,” Bishop Oginde said.
