DCI forensic expert in ICU after gang attack on Kamiti road
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has reported a shocking attack on one of their own, forensic expert Joseph Mwange,
According to the Directorate, Mwange and his wife were ambushed by a group of armed gangsters on Kamiti road, close to Jacaranda estate in Kahawa West, Nairobi, as they were returning from a party in Roysambu.
The thugs stopped Mwange’s car and inquired into his destination while posing as police officers. They let him go after discovering that he was going home.
Unbeknownst to Mwange, the thugs followed his car, and as he stopped to open the gate to his home in the Maziwa estate, one of the thugs opened fire, shot him, and then ran off into the night.
Mwange’s wife rushed him to the intensive care unit at Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral hospital where he is currently receiving critical care.
DCI says three specialized units have sent a team of sleuths to look for the assailants.
“We are deeply saddened by this attack on one of our own and our thoughts and prayers are with detective Mwange and his loved ones during this difficult time,” said DCI in a statement.
“We assure the public that we will do everything in our power to bring the perpetrators to justice and hope for a speedy recovery for detective Mwange,” the statement read in part.
