Kindiki, Machogu top performing CSs – TIFA poll
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has emerged as the best-performing member of President William Ruto’s cabinet, according to a poll conducted by TIFA Research.
The poll, which was released on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, surveyed 2,065 respondents across the country on various issues, including their views on the state of the economy, the achievements and failures of the government, and the performance of cabinet secretaries.
Kindiki scored 26 percent of the respondents’ approval, followed by Education CS Ezekiel Machogu with 10 percent. Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi came third with percent, while Youth Affairs, Sports and the Arts CS Ababu Namwamba and Agriculture and Livestock Development CS Mithika Linturi tied at fourth with 3 percent each.
The poll also revealed the reasons why respondents rated Kindiki and Machogu highly. For Kindiki, 34 percent said he had improved security, 28 percent said he had reduced crime and banditry, 8 percent said he had brought peace, 6 percent said he was hardworking and actively involved, 4 percent said he had reduced theft, and 1 percent said he was improving service delivery.
For Machogu, 45 percent said he had actualized the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), 19 percent said he was improving the education sector, 15 percent said he was ensuring actualization of 100 percent transition from primary to secondary school, 8 percent said he had ensured excellent performance in exams, and 3 percent said he had reduced cheating in exams.
The poll was conducted between March 11 and March 19, 2023, using face-to-face interviews. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.1 percentage points.
