The Employment Court has extended orders suspending the Principal Secretaries nominee’s vetting.
In a virtual hearing on Monday morning, Justice Nduma Nderi extended the order to next week Tuesday when he will deliver a ruling on the issue of jurisdiction that was raised by the National Assembly.
Parliament had sought to have orders by Justice Nzioki Wa Makau set aside but the judge declined.
House representatives argued that, according to the law, if the 51 nominees are not vetted within 28 days then they will automatically be sworn into office.
Last week, Justice Makau ordered the vetting process by National Assembly Committee to be halted following a suit filed by the Law Society of Kenya.
The judge directed LSK to serve the parties and fixed the case for hearing on November 21.
Following the court orders, House speaker Moses Wetang’ula ordered all House Committees to halt the vetting process.
“The Departmental Committees which had already concluded the vetting proceedings and approval hearings are o suspend any activity relating to reporting to the House on the proceedings, until further notice,” the Speaker said.
