Ruto in Mandera as he sells his bottom-up agenda
Deputy President William Ruto is in Mandera where he continues to drum up support for this bottom-up economic agenda. The Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate held an economic forum in the county on Tuesday night and is expected to continue with the campaigns on Wednesday. Meanwhile, his Kenya Kwanza partners will be spread in other parts of the country. His running-mate Rigathi Gachagua is leading the ‘Mt Kenya train’ in Laikipia and Meru while ANC leader MUsalia Mudavadi will be in Kakamega and Vihiga Counties.
Infotrak to release latest opinion poll on August election
Research firm Infortak is set to release a new opinion poll on the August election. A Nation Media Group opinion poll conducted in the first week of May showed each of the two main presidential aspirants commanding 42 per cent of the popular vote. The poll confirmed that the presidential election set for August 9 this year will be a two-horse race between Ruto on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket and Raila on an Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition ticket.
Raila will be a puppet president – Alfred Mutua
Machakos Governor and Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader Alfred Mutua on Tuesday led a charm offensive mission for Deputy President William Ruto in Kitui County where he held rallies at Kanziku and Zombe towns. Mutua who was accompanied by Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai and lawyer Wilfred Nyamu who is seeking Kitui senatorial seat described Raila as a project and a captive who would not do anything on his own. Mutua who recently ditched Raila for DP Ruto led Kenya Kwanza to warn Kenyans about electing the former prime minister who is under the control of the outgoing president.
Mucheru, Matiang’i warn on abuse of social media
Cabinet Secretaries Joe Mucheru (ICT) and Fred Matiang’i (Interior) have warned that the government will crack down heavily on the abuse of social media during the ongoing election campaigns. The two were speaking in Naivasha on Wednesday morning during the National Computer Cybercrimes Strategic meeting.
UDA takes on NIS over alleged sharing of intelligence with Azimio
Deputy President William Ruto’ UDA Party on Tuesday opened a new war front with the State over what they call an abuse of intelligence information and services to the advantage of their main competitor, Raila Odinga’s Azimio-One Kenya coalition party. In a letter, UDA raised complaints with the Intelligence Service Complaints Board over what they term misuse of national security organs to advance the political interests of Raila and Azimio.
