UDA presidential candidate William Ruto is signing a charter with women at the Nyayo Stadium Ruto has been seeking to put the women’s agenda at the fore of his campaign, especially after his main competitor, Azimio la Umoja’s Raila Odinga, picked Martha Karua as his running mate.
Raila offers Western 3 ministers, 7 PSs in deal
Azimio la Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga has offered three ministerial positions to Western Kenya in move to counter his main opponent, UDA’s William Ruto. The details of the deal are contained in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that Mr Odinga signed with the Democratic Action Party (DAP-K). Ruto has offered Musalia Mudavadi the position of Chief Cabinet Secretary and 30 per cent of the government share on the condition that he delivers 70 per cent of the region’s votes.
IEBC to deploy satellite modems to polling stations
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission will deploy satellite modems to polling stations that have poor mobile coverage. The move is aimed at ensuring that all the polling stations are able to transmit the results of the August 9 Election electronically without any hitches.
Presidential debate to be fair and inclusive – organisers
Nation Media Group CEO Stephen Gitagama says the presidential debate secretariat is ready to conduct a credible debate. Mr. Gitagama added that the debate will provide a platform for Kenyans to interrogate the presidential candidate’s manifesto to enable them to make an informed decision. Editors Guild president Churchill Otieno says that the presidential debate will be inclusive of all public interests adding that all issues raised by stakeholders including candidates have been taken into consideration and the candidates have expressed optimism.
21th Parliament adjourns indefinitely ahead of poll
Members of the National Assembly adjourned sine die on Thursday even as they rushed to complete some of the pending businesses before the House. On Thursday morning, the MPs shared their experiences and what they expect in the life of the 13th parliament. Despite the House adjourning this evening sine die, MPs’ term will come to an end on August 9th. The lawmakers can still be recalled for a special sitting to transact urgent House business. The 12th parliament was inaugurated on August 31, 2017.
