Azimio governors take swipe at Ruto’s administration over high cost of living, insecurity
Azimio la Umoja One Kenya governors and deputy governors have issued warnings that Ruto’s administration will likely worsen the country’s situation should nothing be done.
After a meeting with the Azimio national leadership on November 24 and 25, the leaders claimed to have done a thorough analysis of the state of the economy, politics, and human security and noted that the Kenyan people are going through difficult times with no obvious solution in sight.
The leaders vowed to defend the rights of Kenyans in the future and show their commitment to preserving democracy, the rule of law, and the Constitution.
“We commit to our constitutional mandate of serving the people in our respective counties. In pursuit thereof, we shall cooperate and consult with the national government for the benefit of our people within the framework of the principles of the two levels of government being distinct and interdependent,” the leaders said in a joint statement.
The leaders claimed that although the Kenya Kwanza Regime appeared to be legitimate, the people did not recognize it as such.
“We remind the people of Kenya that slavery may have been legal in some jurisdictions but remained repugnant to morality and justice. Colonialism may have been covered by the veneer of legality but was morally decadent and unjust,” they said.
The leaders also denounced what they described as the regime’s “revenge mission” against the IEBC commissioners who had the audacity to contest the election results.
The leaders also declared that they would create a culture of consultation with all elected officials in their respective counties in order to implement the Azimio Manifesto.
“We undertake to strengthen the Azimio movement in our respective counties so as to restore hope among our members and the people of Kenya generally,”they said.
“We shall not allow to be taken back to the dark days of oppression and dictatorship ever again in Kenya,” they added.
The leaders also declared that they would fight against attempts to reintroduce the discredited “shamba system,” introduce genetically modified organisms (GMO) into food and/or seeds, destroy the environment, tax the most defenseless members of society, such as “mama mbogas,” and raise the cost of living.
“The regime was not prepared to lead, has no clue on how to fix Kenya’s problems and continue to be obsessed with campaigning. This regime of lies, deceit and false promises is out of its depth and shall not be allowed to ruin our lives,” reads the statement in part.
The leaders announced that they will officially caucus as Azimio governors and deputy governors both inside and outside of the Council of Governors (CoG), in order to coordinate their efforts and work together to better serve and develop the Kenyan people.
