A great adventure: Kibochi’s message as he exits KDF
Retired Chief of the Kenya Defense Forces General Robert Kibochi on Friday officially handed over the mantle to incoming General Francis Omondi Ogolla.
The handover ceremony was held at Ulinzi Stadium.
In his speech, Kibochi describes his time in the military as a “great adventure”.
” I’m humbled to have served for four years and have risen up the ranks,” he said.
“As we disengage from KDf, I’m grateful I had the opportunity to lead the troops in different capacities. I express gratitude to those who made my military life remarkable. I would like to thank my commanders-in-chief former President Uhuru Kenyatta and President William Ruto who I have served under their leadership.”
Kibochi lauded the incoming CDF Ogolla for being part of his strategic team. He said the team ensured that KDF remained mission ready.
“We have had to navigate a changing security situation. I thank all the commanders for doing their duty in accomplishing all our diverse missions. Your delivery of the KDF mandate has been exemplary,” Kibochi said.
He appreciated his wife, Tabitha Kibochi, who started the Military Wives Association and steered the ship well.
“My wife is the bedrock of our family. She did the heavy lifting when I was away.”
Kibochi joined the military in May 1979.
“My favour from the date of enlistment has been amazing. It has been a great adventure to achieve this,” Kibochi said.
