Police probing death of woman found naked, in a pool of blood in her house
Residents of Kariua village in Kirinyaga county are in shock after a 70-year-old woman was found brutally murdered inside her house on the first day of the New Year.
Gladys Muthoni was spotted lying in a pool of blood, inside her house.
It is suspected that the killers also raped the elderly woman as she was found stark naked.
The lifeless body of the deceased was discovered by her grandmother who had gone to check on her.
“I found the deceased with head injuries when I entered into her house. It appears as if she was also sexually abused before she was murdered,” Lilian Wambere, a granddaughter to the deceased said.
Wambere narrated how she immediately reported the matter to Mathigaini Sub-Location assistant chief who then alerted the police.
According to the deceased’s grandson Moses Muthii, the woman had been living alone prior to the gruesome murder.
“My grandmother had been staying alone after her husband relocated to another farm at South Ngariama area,” he said.
Muthii suspected that the criminals could have robbed the deceased of Sh10,000 which she had received from her self-help group for New Year celebrations before they snuffed out her life.
Relatives demanded that police get into the bottom of the matter and expose those who committed the crime.
” We want justice,” said Muthii.
Mwea-West Sub-County police commander Mbatian Kantai said police have launched investigations to establish the motive behind the heinous act and unearth the killers.
He asked residents to cooperate and volunteer information which can help investigations officers identify the killers.
The body of the deceased was taken to Kibugi Funeral home for postmortem examination.
