Machakos county receives medical supplies worth KES 70 million from Germany
Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti on Friday received medical supplies donation worth KES 70 million from Germany.
The supply included refurbished Accident and Emergency Unit and Emergency Medical
Equipment from Malteser International in Germany.
The Governor said the equipment will be distributed to 17 health facilities to aid in serving the county.
“I am happy to report that Malteser has also trained our emergency responders and ambulance drivers during this first phase of their Programme and will continue with capacity-building for our Emergency response staff. We have a five-year contract with Malteser as our Resource Partner,” Wavinya Ndeti said.
“We are committed to making Machakos a model County in Emergency Response, given the high burden of accidents due to our proximity to Nairobi city and major highways, that cut across our County.”
She said her office together with the department of health has also mobilised donor support totalling KES 879.8 million.
Ndeti said Machakos county Government has infused a total of KES 77.1 million in the supplementary budget
for the financial year ending June 30, 2023.
She said the funds will be utilized in several projects at the Machakos Level 5 Hospital including improvement of
Health Information Management System on patient records, revenue Management and pharmaceutical control which she estimated to cost KES 45 milllion.
“Since I took office, my Government found an outstanding bill of over KES 200 million which is now fully paid. I have kept my promise on ensuring a steady supply of medical equipment and supplies as envisioned in my Manifesto,” the Governor said.
“We have so far bought medicines worth KES 250 million,” she said, adding that her government has allocated the
entire department of Health KES 4.9 billion in the next financial year starting July 1, 2023.
