Ecobank Kenya gets new boss from Ghana
Ecobank Kenya, a subsidiary of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), has appointed Josephine Anan-Ankomah as its new Managing Director.
Anan-Ankomah is a Ghanaian career banker with 30 years of experience in various capacities within Ecobank Group. She was previously the Group Executive for Commercial Banking.
She succeeds Cheikh Travaly who retired at the end of 2022.
Anan-Ankomah will also serve as the Regional Executive for the Central, Eastern and Southern African (CESA) region.
She holds an MBA in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Sociology from the University of Ghana. She is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. She has a wealth of experience in treasury management, commercial banking, investment banking and corporate strategy.

I look forward to working with the Board, management and fellow Ecobankers to grow our business in Kenya and leverage the vast opportunities within the region to actualise Ecobank’s broader vision of fostering financial and economic integration,” said Anan-Ankomah.
She will be responsible for leading and growing the Bank’s business in Kenya and the wider CESA region constituting 18 out of 33 Ecobank affiliates and one representative office.
