Fixing the Nation: NMG’s bold new show hits the airwaves
Starting today (Monday), a bold new show that offers a candid look at the challenges facing Kenyans and explores solutions to move the country forward hits the airwaves.
Dubbed “Fixing the Nation”, the show will air every weekday on all Nation Media Group’s platforms — NTV, Nation FM and all our digital platforms — from 6am to 10am.
“It’s a 360 show, more like broadcast meets podcast,” Fixing the Nation producer Wangechi Muriuki said on Sunday.
Anchored by journalists Eric Latiff, Janet Mbugua and Mariam Bishar, the show will be a space for conversations that encompass deep dives into issues that affect Kenyans, driven by solution journalism, expert insights, and public voices.
“It is, therefore, more than a show — it’s a movement. A movement to restore accountability, ignite patriotism, and prove that change is possible when we all play our part —one conversation at a time,” said NMG Editor-in-Chief Joe Ageyo.
NMG has always championed journalism that informs, empowers, and inspires change. From amplifying the voices of freedom fighters during Kenya’s fight for independence to championing the Second Liberation struggle and the quest for a new Constitution, the Nairobi-based content company stands as a pillar of accountability and progress in East Africa.
“Our legacy is deeply woven into shaping national debates, driven by our mission of positively influencing society,” explained Mr Ageyo. “At every pivotal moment in Kenya’s history, the NMG has been there, sparking national conversations that drive meaningful action.”
While the government and elected leaders undeniably bear a major part of the responsibility for addressing our nation’s challenges, fixing the nation cannot rest on the shoulders of elected officials alone, said Mr Ageyo, adding that “true and lasting change demands a collective effort from businesses, communities, civil society, and individuals as well.”
Today and all other Mondays, the show will feature political and current affairs discussions. Tuesdays will be about money conversations and a fact check segment.
“This will check on promises made and track if they were met by leadership,” explained Ms Wangechi.
Wednesdays will be about reminding Kenyans of events that happened and Kenyans or leadership seems to have moved on yet no solution was provided to the affected.
On these days, victims will share their stories. Justice and rights issues will also take place on this day.
On Thursday, Mwananchi is given priority while Friday is culture day and “we are very intentional about youthful audience,” said Ms Wangechi.
